On 31 January 2025, a statutory instrument amending Annex II of the Great Britain (GB) Cosmetics Regulation came into force. This amendment introduces 64 additional substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic (CMR) to the list of banned ingredients in cosmetic products. These substances were already prohibited in the European Union and are now similarly restricted in GB.

Compliance deadlines
To ensure compliance with the updated regulation, businesses must adhere to the following deadlines:
- 20 April 2025 – Final date for placing cosmetic products containing any of the banned substances on the market.
- 20 October 2025 – Final deadline for making such products available to consumers.
