The EU and UK Cosmetics Regulation
The EU Cosmetics Regulation and its annexes are constantly being updated: every year, several substances are banned or restricted for use in cosmetic products in light of new scientific findings.
All such changes that occurred in the EU regarding substances and their regulatory status until 31 December 2020 have automatically been implemented into the UK Regulation, too.
As of 1 January 2021, however, the annexes to the UK and EU Cosmetics Regulation diverge: the UK can restrict and ban substances on its own accord and as it sees fit.
